Online survey company HotelsCombined has been awarding the best hotels around the world since 2014, and this year, Rivertown Inn at Stillwater was given the title, Best Hotel in Minnesota. This was not decided by a panel of judges, but rather “by the guests who have stayed there,” says Chris Rivett, travel specialist at HotelsCombined. The company uses a sophisticated algorithm to determine each state’s top hotels. This takes into account things like “quality and consistency of guest reviews, customer ratings, the absence of recurring or unresolved issues, blogs, forums and social media posts,” Rivett says. Rivertown Inn is beloved by guests and those in the hotel industry alike, he says, so it’s no surprise it came out on top. --AB
